Cardiology consultation is the most important aspect of medical treatment. It is an opportunity for patients to discuss about their cardiac problems, current complaints, understand the risks and complications, and to adopt healthy lifestyle habits. It also helps in better understanding the treatment methods and surgery procedure, pre and post-operative preparations, risks, and complications of the surgery. During the cardiac consultation, your doctor will evaluate past medical history, and perform thorough physical examination and tests to assess the risk of developing heart diseases. Early diagnosis may have a better prognosis and minimize the complications.

Coronary angiography is a test to show the blood supply to the heart. The usual way of doing this is to pass a tube from the artery in wrist (right or left) or groin. Dye is injected that show up on X-rays and outline the artery to the heart. If a narrowing in the main artery is found it is widened by blowing up a balloon past through the tube to the artery this is called angioplasty. Often a stent is inserted into the streched segment of the artery to hold it open and slow down re-narrowing. Bypass Surgery and modern treatment with drug and life style alteration may be another option. Same procedure is used to see the artery to the brain, kidneys, legs etc and is known as carotid angiography, renal angiography and peripheral angiography and angioplasty. CT Coronary Angiography : Is a OPD based (no admission needed) non-invasive painless examination of coronary arteries which supply blood to heart muscles. It is safe procedure which can localise, visualise and quantify the earliest possible evidence of coronary disease.
The percutaneous closure of ASD, VSD & PDA is performed using a special closure device. The device is folded or attached on to a special catheter, similar to the catheter used during your catheterization. The special catheter is inserted into a vein in the leg and advanced into the heart and through the hole. The device is slowly pushed out of the special catheter allowing each side of the device to open up and cover each side of the hole (like a sandwich), closing the hole or defect. When the device is in proper position, it is released from the special catheter. Over time, heart tissue grows over the implant, becoming part of the heart. The Device closure procedure is monitored by X-ray.The percutaneous closure of ASD, VSD & PDA is performed using a special closure device. Minimally invasive heart surgery is a term for heart procedures performed through one or more small cuts (incisions). In contrast, open-heart surgeries typically use one long incision down the front of your chest. Surgeons insert small, high-powered cameras, tools or robotic arms through the incisions. The surgeon guides the tools between your ribs to access your heart. Minimally invasive techniques may offer less scarring, reduced pain and faster healing than open-heart surgeries. Open-heart surgeries typically involve cutting through your breastbone (sternum) to reach your heart.
